Azure Ammonite

Festival of Contemporary Machine Stitch

The Festival of Contemporary Machine Stitch offers a cornucopia of pleasures to anyone interested in and passionate about textiles. The event offers free interactive activities using a sewing machine. This all-ages event hosts workshops and demonstrations by a diverse selection of contemporary fibre artists. Exhibitions will feature innovations in contemporary machine stitch, items from the Embroiderers’ Guild of NSW Collection and stitched work from our Members, embellished children’s clothing, all topped off with an exhibition of Repurposed-Upcycled Vintage Fashion.

The inaugural Makers Meet will be hosted at Craft Up Late in our recently redeveloped three-storey building, allowing stitchers and fibre artists to build new connections and skills. School groups, sewing and quilt groups are welcome to book in and include a delicious Devonshire Tea for groups of five or more, at $5 per head payable on the day. Stitched artworks are for sale in the Gallery shop along with all your stitching needs.

Details: Friday 21 September – Tuesday 6 November; Craft Up Late: Thursday 11 October, 5pm – 8pm
