Handmade showcases the work of art and craft makers; children and adults, beginners and professional artisans who have participated in artmaking experiences at the studio in Mortlake. The therapeutic benefits of slow art making and making by hand is integral to the mission of the studio which aims to provide all with opportunities to take time out, learn new skills and explore the benefits of art and craft, regardless of ability, age, or other preconceived obstacles.
The celebration of the handmade is also seen in the developing retail space which gives opportunity for local makers to sell their unique handmade wares. Care of our natural environment and sustainable art making practice are integral to Artroom Handmade, including the choice and design of classes and workshops and the items sold in the gallery space.
