Sturt – 80 Years in the Making

Online Exhibition

To celebrate this incredible milestone for Australia’s oldest design centre, we’re showcasing the legendary makers who made (and continue to make) the pilgrimage to live, work and teach at Sturt in the Southern Highlands. The exhibition highlights why this humble Highlands cultural destination should be renowned and treasured as one of the most important models of the post-war studio crafts movement in Australia. 80 Years in the Making will draw upon the incredible legacy of Sturt’s permanent collection – a gift from hundreds of the world’s master makers who came to share their skills at Sturt, along with pioneering Australian artisans who went on to contribute a lifetime of wisdom in their chosen craft.
