Designer and leather artisan Katja Handt hosts an open studio and leads two workshops.
Marbling shows how to transform leather into a beautiful key fob and bookmark. Learn how to prepare, marble and emboss the leather. All materials provided.
Bring your precious leather bag or accessory to The Handbag Spa workshop and learn how to look after it including leather care, repair and what to look out for when purchasing new. Leather care kit included.
Five Islands Studios is the shared creative space of artists Michele Elliot and Katja Handt and based on Dharawal Country in Port Kembla. Michele's artwork comes out of practice-led research that focuses on materiality and meaning. She works with installation, drawing and textiles, and facilitates a range of art projects in community. Katja is a set and costume designer/maker and also the person behind Kattasche, a small leather atelier for authentic and bold leather accessories.
