All About: Craft Swap Meet
Angela D'Alton and Renee Baker of D’Alton Baker Productions have developed a brand new platform in response to strained supply chains and cancelled design markets – Craft Swap Meet. Read more to find out about this innovative online event.
“With the cancellation of design markets our community was utterly devastated. We immediately sought methods of providing support, particularly the difficulty of sourcing items when international postage is almost at a stand still. We found there wasn’t an existing platform that truly speaks to the maker community and provides them with a one stop location to buy, swap and sell craft supplies within Australia from other Australian crafters” says Renee Baker.
This coming Sunday October 18th from 9am to 1pm crafters are called to craftswap.com.au to hunt for treasures amongst the supplies on offer or find pre-prepared kits to keep your hands occupied.
“We’re looking forward to seeing even more makers get on board with the concept, the participants of the first event were super-jazzed about getting involved and it really helped them with cash flow too” says Renee.
“Our first event surfaced some incredibly rare items like a vintage stamp kit with other articles like buttons, ric-rac and ribbon and even felt plant kits” says Angela D'Alton.
Applications are now open for makers with a surplus of supplies ready to sell and swap with Australian crafters, closing on Monday October 5th at midnight. Head to the Craft Swap website for more information.
Shoppers stay tuned to @craftswap.com.au on Instagram or subscribe to the newsletter to find out more, and remember to pop Sunday 18th October into your diary. Virtual doors will be open from 9am to 1pm.
