Family Friendly events at Sydney Craft Week

Looking for some family friendly events to check out during Sydney Craft Week? We’ve rounded up some highlights for you!

Reverse Garbage in Marrickville are hosting Reconsidered Reuse Workshops, fun for ages 8 and up. Create useful and decorative items from re-use objects all provided by Reverse Garbage. On Saturday 7 October they are hosting Paper Craft: Learn to make cards and mini-artworks using collage, paint washes and machine and hand stitching on paper. On Saturday 14 October get busy with Fabric Craft: Learn hand-stitching and fabric embellishment techniques to reinvent fashion items from your wardrobe or create accessories from fabric remnants.

At Parramatta Clay and Arts Incorporated, they have some great workshops for all the family to enjoy. Create a Family Tile Wall Piece, on Saturday 7 October, that will become a lovely mosaic for your wall or garden. Come back the following week to make a Cookie Jar on Saturday 14 October. Children will get to embellish wheel thrown forms to create a highly original lidded cookie jar.

Take the kids, aged 8+, to Bobbin and Ink in Petersham for some Electrocraft! on Sunday 8 October.  Learn about basic circuit theory and create your own custom light-up card or felt badge to take home.

STEAMpop are running Lumifold: Mindful Math-Making all ages weekend workshops, on 7-8 October at Snepo Fab Lab in Darlinghurst. A real unique workshop for the whole family, Lumifold is imaginative, illuminating and playful. The workshops are an opportunity to become absorbed in making via mathematical paper folding.

For older children and teens, check out these great events!

And of course kids are welcome at all the free exhibitions, open studios, events and markets. For the full program of events, check out the Sydney Craft Week home page.
