Craft Up Late at ADC with Lyn Balzer and Tony Perkins at Australian Design Centre, Darlinghurst: Come meet Object Shop makers Lyn and Tony and see their eye catching retail installation of their new woven ceramic work. Whilst here, you can also see exhibitions: Profile 2019 – Contemporary Jewellery AwardResponse – Small Tapestries from the Australian Tapestry WorkshopIntergradation: Taerim Claire Jeon and The Gadigal Mural.

'Leaves Fall.....' exhibition by Barbara Ryman at Stanley Street Gallery: Barbara Ryman has been a leading influence in Australian Contemporary jewellery for more than 30 years, come to see the fabulous exhibition at Stanley Street Gallery in Darlinghurst.

Makers and their Spaces at Gaffa Creative Precinct:  Gaffa will open its endless studio doors for a chance for visitors to meet the makers and see their spaces at Gaffa Creative Precinct in Sydney's CBD. Also see current Sydney Craft Week exhibitions: Dopamine by the Seed Stitch Collective and In-Between curated by Kristi Pupo and Anna Battersby.

Re play by Melanie Ihnen and Jennifer Fahey: Whilst at Gaffa, check out Re play - a visual documentation of Melanie Ihnen and Jennifer Fahey enjoying the process of crafting and playing in the jewellery studio.

Make a Reusable Cutlery Kit with Green Fix: Join Green Fix in the Sydney CBD Stdio for their green inspired workshop - making your own reusable cutlery kit. Book now.

Play with the Makers at CraftNSW: Head to CraftNSW at Millers Point for drinks and nibbles and a ‘Pins and Beads’ playful workshop (book online). 

Tumi-isi Painting Class by Simply Native: In this hands on class you will paint your own set of five tumi-isi blocks - at Cubby House, Redfern.
 


Wednesday 16 October 5pm – 8pm: Eastern Suburbs

Craft up Late: Open Studio with Paula do Prado:  Join Paula for a cup of tea in her Paddington studio and have a chat about the connections between craft, community and wellbeing. 

Try the Wheel at elph store: Discover gorgeous ceramics in the hidden elph ceramics studio in Paddington and maybe take home a piece. Visitors are invited to try their hand at throwing or watch others as they have a go!

Waverley Council’s Makers Craft + Design Program presents Dip, Roll and Turn at Bondi Pavillion: Come along, see the works, meet the makers and immerse yourself in the sweet hum of the creative community as they celebrate their love of the craft. 

Also happening outside of the area:

Korean Cultural Centre Australia presents Playlist: The exhibition Playlist features a beautiful range of metalcrafts and jewellery by 7 local artists. From 5-7pm enjoy a floor talk with artists led by Eva Czernis-Ryl (Curator, Museum of Applied Arts and Sciences), as part of the exhibition opening festivities. RSVP.

Ready. Set. PLAY! at Skein Sisters in Dulwich Hill: Come along for an evening of fun as you stay and play with all things yarn and try your hand at different ‘Play’ stations.

Maneki Neko (Lucky Cat) Painting Class with Simply Native at Cubby House, Redfern: Take home your own customised clay maneki neko — it doubles as a 'kitty bank' too! Book now.

 


Thursday 17 October 5pm – 8pm: Inner West

Jewelled Moss embroidery class with Amy Jones Studio: Join Amy at the Hypmotive Hub, Marrickville for this embroidery workshop. Learn a few basic stitches and some beading to create an intricate and unique moss embroidery hoop. Book now.

TRADE the MARK Open Studio and Studio Sale: Visit the Marrickville studio of Christina Mclean to chat and see work being made. Visitors can view new work in the pipeline and for one night only receive 20% off selected pieces. There will be sample and second ceramics, textiles and paper artworks for purchase.

Exhibition and Workshops at Monster Mouse Studios: For Craft Up Late, head to Marrickville for a group exhibition and market, organised by the artists of Monster Mouse Studios. 

Citrus Stitch with Arterie at Lifehouse in Camperdown: Arterie will be hosting a special open studio in the Chris O'Brien Lifehouse Foyer. Check out more info on Citrus Stitch - a new textile project incorporating crochet, knitting and beading techniques

This event is cancelled. CLAY HARD PLAY HARD with Kil.n.it experimental ceramics studio inc. in Glebe: Kil.n.it Ceramic Studios is hosting their first ever clay extravaganza! Join them for a fun filled evening featuring: Artist Car Boot Sale, CLAY HARD PLAY HARD, Kil.n.it members’ pop-up exhibition, live demos and a sausage sizzle (vegan and gluten free option available). Free entry.

Reparable Landscapes with Julie Paterson, Cloth: Head to The Happenstore in Annandale for an artists talk with textile artist Julie Paterson.

The Sydney Teapot Show at Kerrie Lowe Gallery, Newtown: Until 7pm tonight, come see this exhibition of eccentric, extraordinary, inventive and amusing teapots.

Sensational Play – [Mistake] Making Station at Embroiderers’ Guild NSW: Artist Christine Wiltshire will be holding knitting sessions in which you can play with errors and different textual forms of wool, silk and paper yarn while learning how to knit, remembering how to knit, experimenting with alternative forms of pattern construction and improvisational knitting.

Open studio with Jude Love: Jude Love of LoveAndWest opens her Arncliffe studio to the world. See her 'embarrassment' of tea towels and vintage linens and fabrics in her home workspace.
